The ‘AwARe’-app is a handheld augmented reality (AR) app that can visualize resources needed for food production. Its aim is to give consumers more awareness, understanding and a sense of responsibility towards the ecological impact of their food choices, including food waste. Users can scan a room (for example their kitchen) and create a list of ingredients, after which the resources needed for the production of those ingredients are generated inside the users room, using AR. The application also contains questionnaire functionality that can be used by researchers to track the effectiveness of the app in changing the user’s decisions regarding their food consumption.
